At 40.5°C, Delhi Experiences Hottest March Since 2022; These Are The Hottest Cities In India Right Now

Does this March feel hotter than usual? Well, as per reports, it is! In fact, on March 26, Delhi experienced its hottest March day since 2022 with a maximum temperature of 40.5°C! With the summer season setting in and upcoming heatwave days, many other regions across India are experiencing hotter-than-usual temperatures. Scroll on to know more about this.

Delhi Sizzles As Mercury Spikes

Delhi is one of the hottest cities in India right now. As per the data released by IMD, on Wednesday, the mercury reached 40.5°C in the Capital. The Ridge area in Delhi recorded a temperature of 40.1°C, which is 6.3°C more than the normal range. Furthermore, on Thursday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 19.5°C, which is 1.4°C above the season’s average.

Also, this isn’t the worst of it. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Northwest India, including Delhi, will witness nearly double the number of heatwave days this summer. Usually, the region records five to six heatwave days in a season. However, this year, it is likely to experience 10 to 12 days of extreme heatwave conditions.

Some Of The Hottest Cities In India Right Now

Besides Delhi, several regions across India are experiencing rising temperatures. Here are some of the hottest cities in India right now –

1. Maharashtra – Many cities reported temperatures above 40°C. Akola reported the highest temperature in the state at 42°C, with a departure of three degrees Celsius. Brahmapuri witnessed 41.9°C, while Chandrapur saw 41.2°C. Cities like Jalgaon, Amravati, and Nagpur, recorded maximum temperatures ranging between 40°C and 40.4°C.
2. Madhya Pradesh – Hoshangabad recorded 40.9°C, with a departure of 3.9°C. Shivpuri recorded 40.0°C, and Damoh, Guna, and Nowgong also recorded 40°C.
3. Uttar Pradesh – Prayagraj recorded 41.6°C, Jhansi saw 41.1°C, and Kanpur recorded 40.0°C.
4. Rajasthan – Chittorgarh recorded a temperature of 40.5°C.
5. Odisha – IMD issued a heatwave alert for parts of Odisha for the next three days. The day temperature is expected to rise by 2-4°C during the next three days in the state.
