Delhiites, trials of the newly installed air siren system will be conducted in central Delhi’s ITO on May 9. As per the announcement by the Delhi government and the police, these trials are conducted as a precautionary measure, and there is no need to panic. The sirens during these trials will be heard within a radius of 4 km.

According to the Hindustan Times, the testing of the new air siren system will commence at 3 PM in Delhi’s ITO. These tests will be carried out for a period of 15-20 minutes and will be heard around a radius of 4 km. Keeping in mind the rising tensions between the two nations, the city police have advised people to stay calm and not to panic during precautionary exercises.

In their official announcement, Delhi Police have emphasised that today’s operation is only a trial. Several police teams have also been deployed to check the preparedness of the staff as well as equipment. Furthermore, the Directorate of Civil Defence will carry out the trials at the Public Works Department (PWD) headquarters at ITO.

Security Tightened Across The City

Heavy security has been deployed across Delhi. The security has been strengthened at locations with high footfall in the city. Special security forces, including paramilitary personnel, have been deployed at government buildings, sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, courts, and foreign embassies. Additional forces have been put in places like markets, malls, railway stations, parks, and metro stations. Extra forces will be added at night at vital locations across Delhi.
