The Sahibabad-Duhai Depot priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS project will get commissioned very soon, as per latest reports. Vinay Kumar Singh, the Managing Director of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), shared that this 17 km section of the RRTS project will be commissioned in the upcoming few weeks, according to a report by Republic World. Vinay Kumar Singh was present at a workshop on Transit Oriented Development. This is where he spoke about some upcoming projects. He was quoted saying that “This is the first time we will be having fast inter-city commuter trains running across the National Capital Region”. He also added this is such an important breakthrough in the field of high-quality transit services in India.

Officials and leaders of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation, Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation,  and Rail Land Development Authority were present at this workshop on Transit Oriented Development.

The Managing Director shared details about the present condition of the project. While speaking at the workshop, he stated that they are getting close to a huge transit project. He was quoted saying, “We are very close to a transformational transit project very soon.” Vinay Kumar Singh also discussed the 17-km priority section of the RRTS project.

  • The Centre is working with the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh for RAPIDX. RAPIDX is a semi-high-speed regional rail service. NCRTC has named this joint venture.
  • NCRTC has big plans for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut stretch. The company is working to commission this 82-kilometre stretch for public use by the year 2025.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation Managing Director also emphasised the importance of promoting transit-oriented development. With this, they can decrease urban uncontrolled development and pollution. Not only these, but this will also help in improving affordability and quality of living in such places.
