Recently, an IndiGo flight had to return to its point of origin. Even though not much is known about the incident, the airline stated that this move had to be undertaken owing to a foul smell. According to an article which was recently published by livemint, the incident took place on the morning of February 9, Friday. The flight was heading to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA in Mumbai.

The point of origin of the flight was the Indira Gandhi International Airport or the IGIA in Delhi. However, after taking off, it had to return to the airport. The flight, which was numbered 6E 449, returned to the Delhi airport.

According to the statement cited in the article by the airline, this was done because of a “momentary foul smell”. The pilot followed the standard protocol and hence, returned to the Delhi airport as a precaution after the smell was reported.

Alternative Aircraft Arranged By The Airline After The Incident

The airline also stated that it deeply regretted the inconvenience which might have been caused by this ordeal. An alternative aircraft was arranged for the passengers of this flight. After a delay, the flight operated as per usual.

IndiGo has been facing a lot of flak from its customers. Many passengers are reporting that the airline is notorious for delays. Sometimes, a flight is delayed for hours on end without a viable explanation. Even the CEO of Shaadi.com criticised the airline recently for its tardiness.
