Delhi is back with its most awaited floral extravaganza, the annual Delhi Tulip Festival. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) kicked off the third edition of the festival by planting 3.5 lakh tulip bulbs across major locations in Delhi primarily at Shanti Path in Chanakyapuri. If you were planning to fly all the way to The Netherlands to witness vibrant tulips in all its glory, then cancel those tickets and just head to Delhi instead.
Delhi Tulip Festival Bathes The City In Colourful Hues
As per a report by Hindustan Times, Dutch Ambassador Marisa Gerards and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena inaugurated the Delhi Tulip Festival 2025 at Shanti Path on Tuesday. The festival which kickstarted on February 7 will end on February 23. Interestingly, of the tulips planted this year, 3.25 lakh were imported from The Netherlands.
Around 15,000 tulip buds were flown down from Himachal Pradesh’s Palampur. An NMDC official stated to HT that their aim this year was to minimise their dependence on tulip imports in the next four years. To emphasise the strong horticultural bond between India and The Netherlands, each tulip plant was named ‘Maitri’.
The tulip festival held at Shanti Path, beckons visitors to take a walk around the viral blooms and capture their beauty through pictures and reels. The neatly lined orange, purple, red, white and yellow buds look ethereal as Delhi welcomes the summer season. A popular attraction for nature lovers and families, this festival gives visitors a chance to bask in the beauty of the tulips in full bloom amid the pleasant February weather. Netizens flooded X (formerly Twitter) with stunning pictures of their time at the floral wonderland.
