Renowned as the winner of Indian Idol season 3, Prashant Tamang passed away at his Delhi Residence today. Aged 43, he reportedly suffered a heart attack and passed away at his residence in New Delhi. The news has left fans, colleagues of the Pataal Lok actor, and members of the music and film fraternity in deep shock.

The celebrated singer hailed from Darjeeling and belonged to the Nepali-speaking Gorkha community. Tamang’s win was celebrated widely across the country, particularly in the Northeast and Himalayan regions. His success marked a rare moment of national visibility for voices from the region.
It was not just a winning moment but a historic one as he gained over 700 million votes, making it one of the most commendable victories in the show’s history.
Transition To Acting
Tamang later expanded his career into acting by marking his debut in Nepal with Gorkha Paltan and appeared in several Nepali films such as Kina Maya Ma, Nishani, Pardesi, and Ye Maya Hanaima. Some of these films became major box-office successes in Nepal.
He became popular on debuting in Bollywood with his role as Daniel Acho in Season 2 of Paatal Lok.
Prashant Tamang’s last announcement on his Instagram about his presence in an upcoming Hindi film called Battle of Galwan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and backed by Salman Khan Films.
