Despite the ban on bursting firecrackers in Delhi NCR, the pollution level in the capital city has alarmingly gone up.

The air quality in Delhi has gone hazardous post-Diwali as a thick blanket of smog hovers around the city making it a hazy morning. This came after the Supreme Court banned bursting of firecrackers in Delhi.

What’s In It?

Delhi recorded its worst air quality of the year with air quality index jumping to 574 that falls in the severe-plus emergency. This may result in respiratory illnesses if exposed for a longer duration to this air.

Despite the Supreme Court’s regulation on the bursting of firecrackers, the New Delhi officials reported a violation of the rule in certain areas of the city including Noida Sector 78 and Mayur Vihar.

Areas such as Anand Vihar and Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium recorded an astonishing 999 while Chankyapuri scored 459 (hazardous category).
