After a few clear days, a thick layer of fog engulfed Delhi again on Saturday morning. This plunged visibility to almost zero in several parts of the city and even disrupted train and flight services. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted “very dense fog” in the city for Saturday and rain showers in the upcoming week. Scroll on to know more.
Dense Fog In Delhi Delays Train And Flight Services
Cold waves with icy winds from northern snow-covered regions continue to affect Delhi-NCR. A dense fog blanketed the region on Saturday morning and affected train and flight services. According to the Hindustan Times, about 47 trains headed towards the national capital were delayed till 6 AM due to the foggy weather. Furthermore, several flights at the Delhi Airport were also delayed due to low visibility caused by the dense fog.
In some good news, the air quality index of Delhi improved on Friday. This resulted in the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) revoking restrictions under Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This comes a day after the curbs were eased and GRAP Stage IV measures were rolled back in Delhi-NCR.

IMD’s Weather Forecast For Delhi For Next Week
As per reports, temperatures across North India have taken a dip. Cold wave conditions continued to persist in the region with several states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and even Delhi-NCR engulfed in thick layers of fog. The IMD has warned of cold wave conditions in isolated pockets over Himachal till January 19.
For Delhi, IMD had forecast that the foggy conditions are expected to continue for the next three days. Furthermore, ‘rain or thunderstorms’ are likely in the capital on January 22 and 23.
