One of the most popular Indian cricketers, Yuvraj Singh, recently ventured into a new arena and became a restaurateur with the opening of his first-ever restaurant, KOCA, in Gurugram. The first guest at this restaurant was none other than our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, who sat with the cricketer and his mother, Shabnam Singh, for a delightful meal and discussed Yuvraj Singh’s life, his childhood, his journey as a cricketer, his new restaurant, his relationship with his parents, and a lot more. During this episode, we also played a few fun games with Yuvraj Singh.
‘This Or That’ With Yuvraj Singh
During the conversation, Yuvraj Singh’s mother, Shabnam Singh, gave us a sneak peek into his childhood and revealed that he was a typical Punjabi boy who loved to indulge in dishes like Saag with Makki Ki Roti, Kadhi Chawal, and Rajma Chawal. Yuvraj added that he is still so fond of kadhi chawal that the dish even found a place on KOCA’s menu, but with a Japanese twist. While the food was being laid out in front of us, we played a fun round of ‘This or That’ with Yuvraj Singh.
First, we asked him to choose between Chole Bhature and Aloo Paratha. While he found it to be a tough choice, he went with the latter. Next, he chose Delhi food over Mumbai food without even giving it a thought! We also asked him to choose between olive oil and desi ghee; he laughed and said, “Abhi olive oil, pehle desi ghee.” Next, we asked him to choose between desi ghee or safed makhan, and he wholeheartedly went with safed makhan.
During this game, he also chose sweet tooth over spicy food, and ghar ka khana over restaurant ka khana, South Indian food over North Indian food and Nani ke haath ke kadhi chawal over Mumma ke haath ke kadhi chawal.

He revealed that he and his mother used to visit Sagar Ratna very often and used to eat 5-6 dosas in one sitting.
