If you thought Emirates had only been embedding its name in the travel recognition, then you are mistaken. It’s pouring excellence into teacups, too. In honour of International Tea Day on Wednesday, 21 May, Emirates Airline spilled the tea (quite literally) on just how seriously they take their brews. Emirates serves a jaw-dropping 33 million cups of tea every single year. Yes, that’s 90,000 cups a day. Let’s check out what’s brewing?

Emirates Airlines Serves 33 Million Cups Of Tea A Year

Emirates has been steeped in a long-standing, flavour-rich partnership with Sri Lankan tea legends, Dilmah, for over three decades. But you know Emirates don’t do anything below luxury. We’re talking expertly selected loose-leaf blends, brewed by cabin crew trained to treat tea like liquid gold. They know their mint from their matcha and can adjust lemon, honey, or fresh mint to bring out every leaf’s best side. Result? Pure emotion in a cup!

As a nod to International Tea Day, Emirates is gifting passengers flying on flights longer than 2.5 hours a special edition tea box. The gift includes three unique blends: the airline’s signature tea, ‘Dombagastalawa FBOP1’ scented with rose, almond and ginger, ‘Moroccan mint green tea’, and a sweet surprise in the form of strawberry-infused ‘Ceylon tea’.

High Tea Gets High-Flying

It’s not just about sipping tea mid-flight, either. First and business class passengers will be treated to mixed drinks crafted with Dilmah Tea in Emirates lounges worldwide on 21 May. So yes, your Earl Grey just got a cocktail twist. And throughout May, those flying first or business to the UK can enjoy tea pairing sessions in the sky. Who needs high tea in hotels and resorts when you’ve got a special one with altitude?

Now, if you think tea is just for dipping biscuits, Emirates would prove you wrong. Their crew recommends pairing green teas with seafood, sushi, and soft cheeses. Meanwhile, black teas are best mates with beef, game, hard cheeses, and even desserts. And floral teas? They vibe best with zesty dishes, like Emirates’ vegan zucchini tart. We’re talking Michelin-level pairings at 35,000 feet.

A Brew For Every Budget

No matter where you’re seated, you’re in for a brew-tiful time. First-class flyers can choose from six premium blends, including classics like Earl Grey and chamomile, as well as Emirates’ exclusive signature tea. Business class offers five gourmet blends, while premium economy and economy travellers get to choose between robust Ceylon or refreshing natural green tea. Emirates has turned teatime into a ceremony, with flavour, finesse, and a hint of luxury.

Sip Happens

In a world full of inflight peanuts and lukewarm coffee, Emirates has brewed something worth toasting. Their commitment to tea, right from the leaf to your cup, is a fine reminder that it’s the little luxuries that elevate the journey. So next time you fly with Emirates, sip, relax, and enjoy the steep ride.
