A Legit World Surfing Championship For Dogs!
Many of us might not be aware, but a dog surfing championship is a legit event that takes place every year. And this year, it’s all set to take place in California, where you will see unique water sporting events and canines of all sizes riding the waves of the Pacific! Sounds thrilling, right? The contest will be held on August 2 at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica, near San Francisco. As per the organisers, not only the top dog surfers but even amateurs are welcome to participate in this competition. The winning dog of the contest will be awarded the prestigious ‘Golden Surfie Award’. The venue was also confirmed by @worlddogsurfing on their official Instagram account.

More Than Just A Surfing Event
According to the website, the event is not just limited to the surfing competition. It will also feature ball-and-fetch water competitions, a doggy fashion contest, and even an adoption drive for rescue dogs, making it a perfect event for anyone looking to welcome a new furry friend home.
Do you want to know the best part? The entry is free and open to the public, with no tickets required. So you can watch adorable dogs riding the Pacific waves without spending a single penny! However, the entry fees for the dogs themselves will depend on the competition category they are entering.
The judges will assess the canines based on the length of the ride, the size of the wave, and the tricks they manage to perform on the surfboard. Each dog will have 10 minutes to catch as many waves as they can. It’s also worth noting that dogs can only enter 1 size or weight-based category.
