Air Conditioned Walkway In Al Mamoura

The Department of Municipalities and Transport opened an air-conditioned outdoor walkway back in December 2024. However, it’s only now that the people will truly start to understand how much of a difference it has created. A work with a project offering a more pedestrian-friendly experience, it’s truly perfect for the UAE summers. After all, it lets customers experience the outdoors in a cooler setting even during the peak summer.

Coming to the walkway, this passage features a built-in cooling system. As revealed in a report by Khaleej Times, this system is beneath the floor, and it has noise-reducing walls. Moreover, the roof allows filtered sunlight to come in, thereby reducing the heat. So even though natural light does come streaming in, it helps in maintaining a cooler environment inside the walkway.

The corridor is not just functional, but even comfortable for people who are using it.

It’s worth noting that this area was picked up as the first location due to the steady flow of pedestrians from nearby offices and residential areas. A business spot for people walking between cafes and workplaces, it allows better monitoring of the people walking through the corridor.

This is truly great news as it’s no secret that summers can be quite uncomfortable in the UAE. With the temperatures climbing to and beyond 45°C, this corridor can provide major relief to the pedestrians. Have you also seen this air-conditioned walkway in Abu Dhabi?
