Every time we explore a different country, it’s not the places but the people who paint a picture of the true spirit of the country in our hearts. After the trip ends, we bring home more than just pictures and souvenirs. Truly, it’s the hospitality and the stories of culture that stay with us till long after we are back home. Recently, digital creator Abhinav Chandel took to Instagram and poured his heart out about his recent trip to Vietnam.

Abhinav Chandel Shares Heartfelt Experience Of Vietnam’s Hospitality

Abhinav Chandel, a digital creator, posted on Instagram recounting a special moment from his trip to Vietnam. He found himself running late for a bus while feeling under the weather. Instead of heading straight to the bus station, his cab driver made an unexpected stop at a food stall. Without hesitation, the driver bought food for himself and handed a parcel to Abhinav, saying in broken English, “From my side, it’s our new year.

This simple yet profound gesture left Abhinav almost in tears. This humble box of food represented everything he loved about Vietnam—the kindness of its people. He reflected on how this was not the first time he had experienced such acts of generosity. From an entire village coming to his aid when he lost a phone in a forest to a family inviting him over for New Year’s lunch, Abhinav had experienced firsthand how the Vietnamese people go out of their way to make others feel safe, cared for, and welcomed.

Abhinav’s post resonated deeply with many, and the comments on his Instagram were filled with similar stories of kindness experienced by other travellers in Vietnam. One user shared how they had stopped to drink coconut water at a roadside stall, only to be served a free lunch by the family running the shop.

Another traveller recalled a particularly moving encounter: they had run out of fuel during the New Year holiday in a remote area. A local family took them in, offered them food and wine, and even sent someone to fetch fuel for them. These stories are just some of many instances that show what makes Vietnam such a special place.

For Abhinav and many others, Vietnam is a place where the people’s kindness and hospitality are the true highlights. Have you had a similar experience in any other country?
