Dine On This Island At Café Ekante

 Under 140 Characters

This Bengali houseboat restaurant and café is built right amidst the beautiful waters to offer solitude, serenity and some lip-smacking food!

What Is It?

Café Ekante (‘ekante’ is a Bengali word that means solitude and privacy), is a part of the relatively recently developed Eco Park at the city of joy. It spreads over 7 acres of lush island space looking over the warm blue waters and is built like a boat to create an ambience as unique as it gets. Get some lunch here with your bae or book a table for a romantic dinner date by the lake! Feeling upset about the hustle-bustle of your never-ending schedule? Take some time out for ‘me-time’ and catch on coffee and reading at Café Ekante for that perfectly enchanting solitude amidst nature and tranquillity!

What’s in it?

A houseboat restaurant and cafe with appeasing views that is perfect to unwind when you want a break from the city-life. Expect traditional and easy interiors (lots of cane and wood) that sing out the Bengali culture and heritage. A prettily lit ferry at night shall take you to this eatery where you can enjoy the food as you sit by the lake and take in the fresh, calm breeze. It is indeed one of the most romantic spots in Kolkata currently if you’re looking to spend some private time with your lovely. They also host events from time to time such as a special buffet during Durga Puja’s and kids activity days (follow them on Facebook for updates and deals).

What To Order?

Authentic Bengali food and flavours is what Café Ekante is known for. Order the Prawn pulav, kurkure Murge or fish fry and the Tawa Bhetki. They also have fusion food where they mix Thai and Asian twists with the flavours of Bengal. People also like the coffee here and the breathtaking ambience, of course, adds up to the taste of it all!

What Else?

The surrounding Eco Park is also a great initiative by the Bengal government (it is the biggest park in India so far) where you can hang out with your family for a day out. So we say why not hit this place up on a weekend (especially great for kids) and spend the whole day eating, enjoying stunning views, boating, cycling, exploring the Chinese garden, kayaking and more!
