While the Indian Railways has put efforts to increase hygiene and offer an array of meal choices in trains, there still is major scope for improvement. A Reddit user shared his incident of travelling by train in a 1st class air-conditioned coach but the hygiene in the train left him severely disappointed. He went on to share pictures as testimony of the same.

Reddit user, @u/z4Dark vented about his experience travelling by train from Nanded to Ahmedabad in a first-class AC coach. In his post, he mentions that his coach was located right next to the general or sleeper coach.While this Reddit user admitted to rarely travelling by train, he goes on to call his experience unacceptable.
In his Reddit post, he stated that the seats were dirty and were littered with wrappers and some kind of liquid. What made it worse were the cockroaches roaming around. A pungent odour filled the air and refused to leave the passengers, leaving them with little choice but to use their own deodrant to perfume the air.
The seats were so dirty and unhygienic that the passenger paid a cleaner ₹100 to use phenyl and clean the seats. The frustrated passenger narrated that the condition of the bathroom was worse. Citing it to be disgusting, the passenger said he “almost vomited. Passengers from the general or sleeper class used it. Also, someone locked the door between the general and 1st class compartments. But the door was reopened to allow food and chai vendors.

Shabby Seats, Cockroaches, Disgusting Toilet…
On tweeting about his unpleasant travel experience to IRCTC, the passenger received an automatic message that informed him that matter was resolved. The Reddit user shared pictures of the same. The first picture shows his shabby seat. The second shows an extremely dirty toilet on the train. The third shows a locked door between two compartments. What would leave you bewildered is the picture of the toilet, it will leave you squirming.

RequirementInitial72 comments, “AC is the new general bro”. @matarpaneer45 says, “Railways are slowly decreasing the general or non-AC coaches because it doesn’t give them as revenue as AC ones”. Muster_theRohirrim rightly points out, “You can smell these pictures”.
koji_the_furry states, “Service quality of AC class have deteriorated heavily these days Compared to pre 2017. They only focus on vande bharat No cap Indians are having audacity to compare it with shinkansen lmao”. @sams237 says, I kid you not, when I visited home(from US) in Feb even the domestic flights had disgusting toilets. I don’t know why most of us have zero sense of hygiene.”
