However, apart from the scrumptious food, Suruchi Canteen has been functioning with a special purpose ever since it opened doors to guests. The canteen is run by the All Bengal Women’s Union -which was set up to rehabilitate women affected by the Partition. It is staffed solely and entirely by women.

What’s In It?
One can find one and many Bengali dishes that are homely and made using age-old recipes. The all-women staff serve both thalis and dishes that are Kolkata’s favourites.
Mochar Ghanto, Begun Basanti, Potoler Dalna, Ilish Bhapa and Bhetki Paturi and Mocha Chingri are only a few of its specialities.
