When you think of airport amenities, you might envision lounges, duty-free shops, or even yoga rooms. But how about a bike track? Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of Asia’s busiest international hubs. And it offers an unexpected but exciting feature: a bike track around its perimeter.

A Unique Airport Feature

Suvarnabhumi Airport is a major gateway to Thailand and a key transit point for travellers journeying across Asia. The space boasts of modern design and extensive facilities. The airport is already renowned for its efficiency and passenger comfort. However, the bike track is a standout feature.

The 14.6-mile (23.5-kilometer) cycling park is located in the northeastern corner of the airport. It is great for casual rides in the open air or serious cyclists. The park encircles the airport using a specially constructed link. There are outdoor things to enjoy at both airports in Bangkok, Dom Mueng and, ironically, the other airport, which features a golf course between its runways. The track is accessible to cyclists, joggers, and walkers, providing a unique opportunity to exercise while enjoying views of the airport’s bustling operations and the surrounding landscapes. So, hire a bike and ride the Happy and Healthy Bike Lane the next time you have some free time at Bangkok’s main airport.

The Track’s Design & Features

The two-lane track is designated for standard or fast riders with blue and purple markings. It’s not as commercial or industrial as you might assume, despite being near the airport grounds. You can stop and have fun at the restaurants, stores, cafes, and grasslands. There are also race-paced efforts that can be done here, as well as set training plans that athletes can strive for.

There is the option to hire a bike. To prove your identity, you must bring your ID or passport. You may only wear sneakers or cycling shoes.

As travel and airport amenities continue to evolve, the bike track at Suvarnabhumi Airport stands out as a pioneering example of how airports can integrate recreational activities.
