Nestled between the runways of Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, it offers a unique golfing experience unlike any other in the world. Established in 1952 by the Royal Thai Air Force, this 18-hole, par-72 course stands out for its unparalleled location.

Kantarat Golf Course, A One-Of-A-Kind Location

Located between the airport’s two runways, Kantarat Golf Course is the only golf course in the world situated within an international airport’s airfield. This extraordinary setting implies that golfers can enjoy their game while watching planes take off and land just a short distance away. Even imagining this experience is quite thrilling, isn’t it?

Playing at Kantarat Golf Course is a truly memorable experience. With no high fences or walls separating the golf course from the active runways, players can enjoy the panoramic views of aircraft in motion. The golf course features lush green fairways and well-maintained greens. However, it’s the constant backdrop of aviation activity that makes the experience truly special.

For those interested in both golf and planespotting, Kantarat offers an unusual thrill. However, this unique setting does come with some quirks. Golfers are required to go through security checks and follow a red light system. This system pauses the game when an aircraft lands to keep loose golf balls from interfering with airport operations.

A Bizarre And Exciting Experience In Bangkok

Despite its extraordinary location, Kantarat Golf Course is surprisingly affordable. A round of golf during peak times costs around 620 Baht (₹1,523.45 approx.). The course is open to the public, making it accessible to both locals and visitors eager to experience this unique golfing venue.

Recently, the Royal Thai Air Force has agreed to transfer the Kantarat Golf Course to Airports of Thailand Public Company (AoT) to facilitate the airport’s expansion, according to Asean News. This decision will also result in the development of a new sports complex, blending public and Air Force recreational facilities.

Kantarat Golf Course is not just a place to play golf but also a strong piece of aviation history. It provides a unique experience for both golfers and aviation enthusiasts.
