Asha Bhosle’s Thoughts On Remix Songs

Remixing old songs in Bollywood is not a booming trend anymore! Almost every other filmmaker is remaking a popular song and making money off of it.  We were curious to learn about Asha Ji’s thoughts on the remixes of her songs.

“Main sunti nahi hoon. Main aaj kal gaane sunti nahi hoon. Mera (gaana) bohot remix huya hai,’Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’. Uske baad maine chord hi diya hai sunna,” the 91-year-old singer shrugged off this topic as remix songs don’t excite her. Moreover, she is fed up with the remix culture and largely avoids listening to the remixes of her old songs.

Kamiya mentioned Asha ji’s popular 1966 song ‘Jhumka Gira Re’ which was popularly remixed as ‘What Jhumka?’. The 2023 song was in the film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ and was sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi. To our surprise, Asha Ji praised and appreciated this song.

She also pointed out that ‘What Jhumka?’ is not entirely a remix song; only a handful of words were reused. Hence, she was satisfied with the recent version. The singer saw this as a marketing strategy and said, “Usse acha huya, mereko aur push mil gaya.”

This is true indeed! The inspiration for ‘What Jhumka?’, the iconic hook steps and the groovy beats with the sheer brilliance of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt made this song a hit last year! We know you loved this song, isn’t it?
