Domestic Flights To Resume Operations From May 25 – Civil Aviation Minister

Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri has now informed that domestic flight operations will resume in a gradual manner from May 25 that is next Monday. The minister took to Twitter to state “All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from May 25. Standard operating procedures for passenger movement are also being separately issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.”  So those of you who are stuck due to the coronavirus pandemic, this is your chance to, book your flight tickets and return back to your home.

Domestic Flights Will Resume From May 25th

Hardeep Singh Puri took to Twitter to inform that domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from Monday, 25th May 2020. His post further informed that all airports and air carriers are being intimated to be ready for operations from May 25th. The Aviation Ministry is also separately issuing Standard Operating Procedures for passenger movement.

Earlier, Puri had stated that the government was ready to resume domestic flight operations before the end of the fourth phase of the lockdown in the country. The flight services have been on hold in India since the last week of March when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the first phase of the lockdown, to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Aarogya Setu App Compulsory While Travelling

In the meantime, The Airports Authority of India(AAI) had earlier tweeted that downloading and registering on the Aarogya Setu App, doing web check-in, taking a printout of the boarding card will be compulsory to fly when commercial flights begin shortly. The Union Health Ministry also issued an advisory for travellers to wear face masks and wash and sanitize one’s hands frequently while travelling. Aarogya Setu App Mandatory For Air Travel

Aviation authorities are preparing for resuming of scheduled passenger flights soon, with a limited commencement of domestic flights. Passengers are permitted to carry 350ml liquid hand sanitizer in the aircraft with them, onboard, to sanitize their hands frequently till up to 13th, August 2020. In addition to this, the requirement of CISF stamping boarding cards have been done away with to control the spread of coronavirus and minimize contact.
