Ever walked past a restaurant and had no idea about a bar which is tucked in secretly? You probably have, especially if you’ve strolled past Alba Restaurant on Dubai Boulevard. Say hello to Dubai’s Japanese Speakeasy that is only accepting reservation-only entries to make it exclusive.
Himitsu Is Downtown Dubai’s Hidden Speakeasy You’ll Want To Whisper About
Tucked away inside Alba Restaurant on Dubai Boulevard, Himitsu is not the kind of regular bar you stumble upon. It’s the one you whisper about. Japanese for “secret,” the name says it all. This speakeasy doesn’t scream for attention. Instead, it draws you in with quiet confidence, refined cocktails, and an experience that feels more whispered legend than city trend.
Designed by the ever-iconic Tristan Du Plessis, the brainchild behind Dubai hotspots like Ristorante Loren and The Cullinan, Himitsu is tiny but mighty. It stretches just 800 square feet, seats a snug 15 guests, and looks like a dream someone had after a very classy sake night. Think hand-painted floral murals, soft lighting, and Japanese art accents that feel rich without feeling loud. The interiors are lush, textured, and intimate, it’s less “night out” and more “secret society with better lighting.”
Exclusive Cocktails, Anyone?
Forget standard bar menus. Himitsu throws out the rulebook and hands you a custom-built ‘cocktail tetris’ system instead. Guests can build their drinks, experimenting with over 1,200 flavour combinations. Yes, 1,200! Want something more classic? Just ask. They’ve got a menu of timeless favourites and a curated bubbly list that would impress even the fussiest sommelier.
The man behind the bar magic is Dikshant Tanwar. At only 24, he’s already carved out a serious reputation in the region’s cocktail circles. Energetic, innovative, and quietly confident, Tanwar runs the show with precision. Under his lead, Himitsu hosts global guest shifts, secret DJ nights, and evolving cocktail programmes that feel more like curated events than regular bar service.

Exclusivity With A Side Of Mystery
Here’s the twist: Himitsu doesn’t do walk-ins. It’s open Thursday to Sunday, from 7 pm until the last guest decides the night’s over. You’ll need to book ahead via phone or WhatsApp, and if you know, you know. Himitsu isn’t trying to be the next viral Instagram spot. It’s aiming for something cool, a whisper of a bar with unforgettable flavours and low-lit magic.
