Recently, an Emirates flight EK086, which was supposed to fly from Zürich to Dubai, was delayed overnight. Yes, this happened on July 19 when the flight experienced a technical issue. As a result, several passengers ended up having a hard time at Zürich Airport. Here’s what happened during the incident.
Emirates Passengers Stranded At Zurich Airport
As reported in as reported by Khaleej Times, travellers had to face an exhausting night when they were left stranded at the Zürich Airport. This happened because an Emirates flight from Zürich to Dubai was delayed overnight. The incident, which took place on July 19, left many passengers stuck at the airport overnight! This happened because the stranded passengers were single-entry Schengen Visa holders, and they weren’t allowed to leave the airport. As a result, they ended up being confined inside the terminal. However, those travellers who had multiple-entry Schengen Visas were given hotel accommodations.

These Passengers Were Single-Entry Schengen Visa Holders
This situation became even more difficult as the airport facilities and restaurants closed at 11 PM. So, the passengers were basically stranded with limited access to food and proper rest facilities. Clear information was also delayed, as revealed in the report. It also mentioned that the flight was then rescheduled to depart the next day at 8 PM local time, which was July 20, Sunday.
As confirmed in the same report, the flight did face a delay, and affected passengers had been provided with food and refreshments as per the airline. However, passengers were hassled and unhappy about the situation as the flight, which was earlier scheduled to depart at 10:15 PM on July 19, announced a delay when the passenger started to queue up. After this, they were informed that the flight had been cancelled.
It truly must have been a frustrating experience for the people as they tried to board the flight and kept waiting to get on with their journey.
