1. Oman Coast Guard Rescues Citizen After Boat Sinks Off Salalah

A Coast Guard Police unit in Dhofar Governorate rescued an Omani citizen after his boat sank off the coast of the Wilayat of Salalah, with rough seas and high waves behind the mishap. The rescued man was given first aid on the spot and was reported to be in good health, according to the Royal Oman Police.

2. Oman To Host Asian Hockey Federation Women’s Cup

Oman Hockey Association will host the “Hadid Muscat” Women’s Asian Hockey Federation Cup from 12 to 18 July 2026 at the Oman Hockey Stadium in Al Amerat. Five national teams are taking part, including Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Hong Kong, with the organising committee confirming all technical and logistical preparations are in place.

3. Egypt’s Meteorological Authority Flags Continued Heatwave Conditions

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has forecast a temperature dip across the country between July 7 and July 11, following an intense heatwave, but has cautioned that this doesn’t mean the heat is truly easing. High humidity levels are still expected to push the perceived temperature up by one to three degrees, with Upper Egypt bearing the brunt of the conditions. Authorities have called for citizens to stay away from direct sun during peak hours and stay well-hydrated.

4. Saudi Arabia To Build Over 900km Of New Roads In 2026

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Roads has inaugurated over 900km of new roads across the country in the first half of 2026, spread across 40 projects in Makkah, Madinah, Asir, the Eastern Province and Qassim. The authority also recorded over 3.7 million truck journeys on the Kingdom’s logistics corridors during the same period, underlining how central the road network is to trade and connectivity across the country.

5. Dubai DJ Turns Metro’s ‘Doors Closing’ Announcement Into A Track

Dubai-based DJ and producer Jose Anthraper, who goes by the moniker Jose VA, has turned the Dubai Metro’s iconic “al abwab tughlaq” (doors closing) announcement into a four-minute house track. The song, simply titled ‘Dubai Metro’, is available to stream on his SoundCloud page and has residents talking.
