The Eid al-Adha festival is nearly here, and as people begin their preparation for the festival, many are planning to stay back in the city. So, staying true to its traditions, Dubai will be bringing its cannons out for a traditional celebration. Yes, as confirmed on Wednesday by Dubai Police, it was revealed that Dubai will be ringing in the celebration with cannon firing in six locations, and we are here to tell you about it.

Cannons are a customary part of celebrating Eid al-Adha. And Dubai will be ringing in the festival after the Eid al-Adha prayer. For the unversed, this prayer is scheduled for 5:45 AM in Dubai. As revealed in a report by Khaleej Times, six locations have been selected for a ceremonial cannon firing. In case you weren’t aware, for Eid al-Adha, firing signals the beginning of the festive holiday.
Locations Unveiled By Dubai Police
Coming to cannons, these six locations have been confirmed for the cannon firing, and these are as follows:
- Za’abeel Grand Mosque, Za’abeel
- Eid Musallah, Umm Suqeim
- Eid Musallah, Nad Al Hamar
- Eid Musallah, Al Barsha
- Eid Musallah, Al Baraha
- Eid Musallah, Hatta
- A Customary Part Of The UAE Heritage

At this point, it’s worth noting that cannon firing is an important part of the festival celebration in the UAE. After all, during the whole month of Ramadan cannon was fired to signal Iftar. And during Eid al-Fitr, it was fired to pronounce the start of the festival. And continuing with the tradition, Dubai still fires ceremonial cannons that are watched by a wide-eyed audience. Holding a deep cultural and social significance in the UAE, Dubai Police often coordinates the event and gives full logistical support. Not to mention, public safety is paramount, and this is ensured so that families can enjoy the first day of celebration without any worry.
Besides the cannon firing, the Dubai Police is also gearing up for the Eid al-Adha break, which begins on Thursday, June 5. Authorities have already issued warnings against speeding and reckless driving, among other traffic violations. After all, one must not forget about safety while indulging in festive celebrations.
