Gavril Mankoo, a resident from Dubai, drove back to his home in Dubai after celebrating Eid-al-Adha holidays in Oman. On the evening of July 1, on his way to Dubai, he and his companions faced a monster sandstorm.

They were on the Salalah-Nizwa-Ibri-Dubai highway when they encountered this freaky weather. The sky over Salalah in the Dhofar Governorate was clouded, and at around 6:17pm, the Dubai resident, his wife, sister-in-law, and brother got stuck in the sandstorm.

Gavril described the storm as the strongest sandstorm he had ever encountered. The wind was extremely powerful, raising the dust and reducing the visibility to dangerous levels. He mentioned to Khaleef Times that driving became dangerous after a certain point.

Video Showed The Intensity Of The Storm

The video shared by Gavril features scenes from the dashboard as they are all stuck in the sandstorm. The intensity was quite clear from the video, and it also featured some light showers.

The Royal Oman Police and other authorities had already warned the people about the deteriorating visibility because of the sandstorm on July 1. ROP tweeted and alerted all the drivers, mentioning low visibility due to the rising sand and sand accumulating on both sides of the road.

They urged drivers and motorists to make sure they look after their safety and prioritise it. Gavril also mentioned that they could not see anything beyond the hood of the car and were stuck on the expressway with other cars.
