Dubai RTA Announces Completion Of 7 Footbridges To Promote Mobility Among Emiratis

Dubai’s infrastructure keeps updating every other week it seems. Several departments of the Emirates put joint efforts to erect a structure in full compliance with the safety standards. All these efforts are been taken to provide a seamless lifestyle and convenience to residents. Dubai RTA recently built 7 footbridges in order to provide mobility in the Emirates. Let’s have a look at the new bridges.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, gave the order for the construction of these pedestrian bridges. With this infrastructure, traffic safety would improve. The bridges help Dubai become a more bicycle-friendly city and offer pedestrians a safe way to cross the streets. They also support the well-being of the community. The satisfaction of Dubai’s residents and visitors will be maximised by achieving these objectives.

The building of footbridges is in line with Dubai’s plan for traffic safety is a long-term strategy to turn Dubai into the safest in the world. By providing infrastructure and safety measures for drivers and cyclists, it also aims to lower the number of deadly run-over accidents to as close to zero as possible. Numerous service facilities, including electric lifts, alarm and firefighting systems, remote monitoring, and others, are proof that the construction of these bridges complies with the highest international requirements for traffic safety. While development was underway, the emphasis was on using artistic and innovative elements.

RTA Aim To Construct Additional 36 Footbridges

The aim is to increase the number of tenfolds in the coming years. Over the past 17 years, the number of footbridges has increased more than tenfold. It has increased from 13 in 2006 to 129 at the end of the previous year. In order to reach its goal of 165 pedestrian bridges, the RTA plans to build an additional 36 footbridges between 2021 and 2026, according to Al Tayer.

Al Tayer recommended using footbridges and subways for crossing streets for locals, residents, and visitors to Dubai. To guarantee their own and other road users’ safety, he also advised drivers to obey speed limits and slow down at pedestrian crossings.

At the intersection of Omar Bin Al Khattab Street and Abu Bakr Al Siddique Street, close to Dubai Hospital, RTA has opened a new footbridge. Dubai is introducing new facilities for the betterment of the residents.
