In a world where birthday wishes often revolve around the latest gadgets or celebrity encounters, one young boy in Dubai had his sights set on something far more unique. Meet Albert Franco Agudera, an 11-year-old Filipino whose heart beats to the rhythm of the Dubai Metro. Thanks to a recent post by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Albert has gone from a local star to an overnight sensation.

An 11-YO Metro Enthusiast’s Dream Come True In Dubai

Albert’s fascination with Dubai Metro is nothing short of legendary. Since arriving in Dubai in 2022, he’s been on a weekly pilgrimage with his mother, Mona Francis Agudera, from CentrePoint Station to Expo 2020 Station and back. His enthusiasm for the Metro is so infectious that it’s become a family ritual. Albert, a Class 6 student, meticulously documents every detail of his journeys and even mimics the announcements on the trains, both in English and Arabic.

Mona shares with a chuckle, “Just mention Dubai Metro, and Albert is up and out of bed like a shot!” It’s no wonder that when it came to his 10th birthday, all Albert wanted was a Gold Class ride on the Metro, along with trips on the Tram and Monorail. “He’s not interested in toys or amusement parks, Dubai Metro is his playground,” Mona adds with pride.

A Birthday Tour Like No Other

Albert’s 11th birthday was no ordinary celebration. In April, he wrote to the RTA requesting a behind-the-scenes tour of the Dubai Metro and their headquarters. To his delight, the RTA turned his wish into reality. The RTA’s social media post showcased Albert’s special day, capturing his joy as he toured the Metro and met with RTA officials. Albert was the picture of excitement as he learned about the smart operations of the Dubai Metro.

A Future Engineer In The Making

Albert dreams of becoming a technical engineer, and his passion for the Metro has only fueled that ambition. The RTA’s gesture to include him in their day-to-day operations reflects a commitment to nurturing young talents and fostering a love for innovation.

As Mona recounts the experience, “Albert thoroughly enjoyed every moment. From the World Trade Centre Station to the detailed tour at the RTA headquarters, it was a birthday he will never forget.”

In a city known for its dazzling skyscrapers and futuristic tech, Albert Franco Agudera’s story is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, the simplest joys and the most unique interests can make the biggest impact.
