Dubai, Sharjah & Abu Dhabi Announce Free Public Parking For The Hijri New Year! Details Inside

Hijri New Year 2023 is here and to commemorate the auspicious occasion, from hotels to restaurants, nearly every establishment is doing something special so that you can have a great time with your loved ones. So, it’s hardly surprising that the transport authorities in the UAE are also leaving no stone unturned to ensure there is nothing that stops you from a great celebration. As a result, authorities in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah have announced free parking timings for the public holiday. Here’s all need to know about this fantastic development!

Dubai Sharjah & Abu Dhabi Announce Free Parking!

As it happens, Dubai Roads & Transport Authorities took to their official Twitter account to share the brilliant news that public parking will be free on Friday, July 21. However, this does not include the multi-storey parking! Similarly, Abu Dhabi also announced that MAWAQiF surface parking fees will be free on July 21, Friday 12 AM onwards, till July 22, Saturday, 7:59 AM. In fact, in a report by Gulf News, it was mentioned that Sharjah Municipality has also announced free parking for residents on July 20, Thursday, which is the official holiday for the new year. However, it’s worth mentioning that in this emirate, this fee exemption does not apply to seven-day paid parking zones that are easily identifiable with their blue parking information boards.

There’s Also A Change In The Timings Of These Transportation Services!

Besides exemption from parking fees, several transport services across the emirates have also announced changes in their timings. In the case of Abu Dhabi, cars that will be passing through Darb road tolls will not be charged on Friday and ITC customer happiness centres will resume working on July 22, Saturday. As it happens, Dubai Metro services will be running on both red and green lines from 5 AM to 1 AM (of the next day) while the Dubai Tram will be running from 6 AM to 1 AM (the next day). At this point, it should be mentioned that service timings have also changed for other transport services in Dubai, including the water taxi, Dubai ferry, abra, and water bus.
