Dubai authorities have outlined the steps drivers need to take if their cars break down in unpredictable weather or they find themselves stranded on flooded roadways. This was announced two weeks after the UAE was lashed with heavy rainfall. Cars had to be abandoned because so many were stalled on flooded streets at the timeHere’s all about the guidelines Dubai traffic authorities have listed out for the drivers and motorists.

Dubai Traffic Authorities Have Guidelines And Procedures For Drivers

According to the Government of Dubai Media Office, anyone who’s driving vehicles should call the Dubai Police at 999 right away if they are unable to bike over flooded roads and their only choice is to choose a different path that goes against the flow of traffic. Further, they stated that if the car breaks down on the road, they should carefully pull over to the side of the road. Or, if they are unable to do that, turn on their hazard lights to warn other cars. After pulling over to a secure spot on the side of the road, place a warning triangle 50 yards behind the car, then report the problem to the police.

Avoid Flood-prone Areas:

When leaving the house, make sure the route is clear and steer clear of low-lying places. If you are driving and the vision is very bad, move over to the side of the road gently and look for the closest safe spot to pull over. Drive carefully to the right side of the road and avoid falling objects, such as billboards, trees, and poles, if you are driving on a highway when you experience violent gusts.

Losing Number Plates:

If your car number plates are lost and you won’t be able to obtain a replacement until the centres reopen, use the Dubai Police app to request a certificate. After that, make a replacement request by going to the closest specialised RTA centre. Apply for a “natural disasters certificate” via the Dubai Police website or app if your car is having engine problems or other problems.

Additionally, they advised drivers to minimise distractions, take all necessary safety precautions, rigorously abide by traffic laws and regulations, slow down, keep a safe distance, and not risk driving into valleys to chase or shoot rain because of how dangerous it may be.
