Dubai: World’s Highest Metro Station Design Unveiled At The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently laid the foundation for the first metro station of the Blue Line. This is a historic move, and the foundation stone was laid at an event on June 9, Monday. With the new project, passengers across the city will be able to move with a lot more ease once it commences operations on September 9, 2029.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, attended the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony. This event happened on June 9, Monday, notified about the goals of the new Network as the work has now officially begun. At the ceremony, he walked through the design of the highest metro station in the world at the Emirates Properties Station. Additionally, a stylish, golden cylinder-like structure was also unveiled with motifs embossed on its exterior.

At the ceremony, leaders were greeted with the historical gallery that showcases the dream of late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. His dream for constructing a metro line that would connect Dubai District has today become a successful metro network, which connects some of the most important centres across Dubai. There were even photographs from the leader’s visit to several world capitals and an image of him using the United Kingdom’s railway network (truly a rare occurrence), where the idea of something similar in Dubai was also conceived

It Will Also Have The World’s Highest Station

As mentioned previously, the design for the Emaar Properties Station had also been unveiled. This is truly a historic moment as it would be the highest metro station in the world, once complete. Standing tall at 74 m, the station would offer integrated commercial and investment opportunities. In fact, Emaar also secured the naming rights for the station for the next 10 years. This would start from the official inauguration, which is scheduled for 2029.

As the ceremony was held on June 9, people were not surprised because nine holds an important significance in the history of the Dubai Metro. It was exactly on the ninth second of the ninth minute at 9 PM on September 9, 2009, when the railway network opened. And now it has been announced that the Blue Line network will also be coinciding with the Dubai Metro’s 20th anniversary.

Honouring the growing network, which has transported more than 2.5 to 7 billion passengers ever since it was launched, this is bound to benefit many more travellers.
