According to a report by the Travels Dubai account site, the races form part of the championship’s milestone season. It will be held under the theme “Ten Years of Achievements and Success,” and will take place at Al Marmoom Reserve in Saih Al Salam.
Two Races, Two Days, One Tough Desert Course
The women’s desert race takes place on Saturday and covers 20 kilometres. The men’s race follows on Sunday with a longer and tougher 52-kilometre route. Both events run on mountain bikes only.
Cyclists must wear helmets and protective goggles and carry their own essential gear. The course includes natural desert obstacles and mixed terrain that can drain energy fast. Riders need stamina, sharp reflexes, and smart pacing. It’s not your casual weekend ride, this one needs patience and preparation.
Women’s Race Pushes Inclusivity And Competition
Saturday’s women’s race splits into two categories: Emirati riders and an open category for all nationalities. That structure keeps the competition fair while welcoming wider participation.
The championship has steadily built a strong women’s field over recent seasons. Earlier races at Al Marmoom Reserve already drew top female cyclists from around the world..
Men’s Race Adds Special Cash Challenges
Sunday’s men’s 52-kilometre race brings extra kick. Organisers added two special challenge segments along the route, each tied to separate cash prizes. Some riders will conserve energy for those sections. Others will attack early and hope to hold on.
AED455,000 Prize Pool For The Winners
The combined prize pool for the two desert races stands at AED455,000. That makes it the largest prize fund for desert cycling races anywhere in the world.
Big rewards attract serious talent, be it local or international riders. Both have strong reasons to show up fully prepared.

Al Marmoom Reserve Sets The Perfect Test Ground
The races take place at Al Marmoom Reserve. Known for its wide, exposed terrain and tough riding conditions, this is not road cycling with pretty sidelines and smooth turns. The Higher Organising Committee designed the course to test endurance, technical bike handling, and quick decisions under pressure.
