Dubai Marathon Marks 25 Years With A Track Crossing Iconic Landmarks

Dubai Marathon is back for its 25th edition, and this time it needs a special place on your calendar. It marks 25 years, broken records, personal bests and many milestone moments. On February 1, before sunrise, the city flips its script as the traffic slows and runners take over the roads.

Dubai Marathon 2026: Sunrise Race Route, Prize Money & Highlights

According to a report by Gulf News, the Dubai Marathon 2026 reaches its 25th edition this year. This year, it placed itself among the most respected long-distance races globally. Dubai Marathon has a  World Athletics Gold Label status and draws elite runners to everyday athletes chasing big goals.

A Flat, Fast Route Built For Personal Bests

The full marathon distance stays official at 42.195 km. The track design is runner-friendly in the best way. It starts near Madinat Jumeirah, rolling onto Al Sufouh Road and Jumeirah Beach Road. Expect long straights, wide lanes, and very few sharp turns. Landmarks like Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Palm Jumeirah entrance, and  Downtown Dubai help runners get hooked during their running.  Cut-off time is six hours, which gives steady runners a fair window to complete the course.

Elite Speed And Serious Competition

Dubai Marathon has built a reputation for quick finishes, and last year proved it again. The 2025 podium belonged to Ethiopian runners. Bute Gemechu won the men’s race in 2:04:51. Bedatu Hirpa claimed the women’s title in 2:18:27. A total of 1,809 runners finished the full marathon last year. The turnout is expected to stay strong for the anniversary edition this year. From elite athletes participating for speed, while the competitive amateurs come to build personal records.

Prize Money That Turns Heads

The winners in both men’s and women’s categories receive USD 80,000 each, which sums up roughly AED293,800. Prize payouts extend down to tenth place, which makes this one of the most generous prize pools in marathon racing.

Race Morning Needs Smart Planning

Race day starts early. Road closures begin before sunrise, so runners and spectators should map routes in advance. Public access shifts, parking gets tight, and last-minute scrambling helps no one.

Thousands can be seen running with one purpose as the energy hits hard and stays high.
