In a big development from Dubai, the first crewed flight of an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aerial taxi has been conducted in Dubai. This was announced on Tuesday, November 11. The development was mentioned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in a post on X, where he mentioned how he reviewed the Dubai RTA’s latest infrastructure and public transport projects.
First Manned eVTOL Takes Flight In Dubai
The first manned eVTOL aircraft took off from Margham. It later landed at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). For those who aren’t aware, this is the new upcoming airport in Dubai. Sheikh Hamdan, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, Minister of Defence and Deputy Prime Minister, reviewed the progress of infrastructure projects. He also reviewed the Future Loop project, which is a part of the Dubai Walk Master Plan.

The Crown Prince of Dubai was broken by His Excellency, Mattar Al Tayer, who is the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s RTA. He was given a lowdown on the progress of the air taxi project and the operational trials that are being conducted by Joby Aviation Inc.

As it happens, the company also recently completed the first crewed flight between these two distinct locations. For those who aren’t aware, the aerial taxi is fully electric and it’s also environmentally-friendly; as a result, it offers safety, comfort, and even speed. It has a flight range of 160 km, and the top speed that can be reached is 320 km per hour.
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that these efforts are an important part of achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. So, it ensures that Dubai remains one of the world’s most livable and dynamic cities.
