1. UAE Proposes Remote Work For Mothers With Children Under 10 Years
The UAE has proposed remote and flexible work arrangements for working mothers and caregivers. This was announced during the session, which was held on Wednesday, January 21st. The members of the Federal National Council (FNC) call for this implementation, especially for mothers and other priority groups. This would include mothers of children who are aged 10 and below.
2. Jebel Jais Records Near 0 Temperature
Jebel Jais, which is the highest mountain in the UAE, dropped to near-freezing. This happened on Wednesday, January 21st. It marked the coldest reading of the winter so far. As further revealed by the Gulf News, the mountain peak, which is in Ras Al Khaimah, recorded 0.2 degrees Celsius at dawn.
3. The 2 Holy Mosques Record 78 Million Visitors In Rajab 1447 AH
As revealed in a report of the Saudi Press Agency, the number of visitors to the two holy mosques was 78,843,425 during the month of Rajab 1447 AH. This was announced by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. As such, it reflects the high attendance, and these figures include all worship and visitation sites.
4. Saudi Arabia To Host Global Coral Reef Summit
SPA revealed that Saudi Arabia will host the world’s first Global Coral Reef Summit. This summit will be during the fourth quarter of this year. Moreover, it reaffirms its international leadership in protecting marine ecosystems. Not to mention, the summit was announced during the Saudi House event, which took place during the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026.

5. Sharjah To Close Two Parks Temporarily
Sharjah City Municipality is preparing for outdoor events and activities. So, as mentioned by the Gulf News, this will take place in the first quarter of 2026. And so, the municipality has temporarily closed the two parks. Announced on social media, the two green spaces are Al Nouf 1 Park, which will be closed until February 2nd and Al Seyouh Family Park, which will be closed between January 27th and 30th.
