Earlier, Etisalat announced that it will be launching a 5G Network, twice as fast as the current 4G speed. Well, this is now a reality! JLT in Dubai will be the first area to be powered by the new 5G network. Besides, UAE is the first country to have a 5G network in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Jumeirah residents, you’re internet connectivity is about to witness a whole new transformation. Etisalat is launching a 5G network for the first time in the UAE. With the roll out scheduled this week, the new initiative is set to kick off in Jumeirah, transforming the community. The system will also boost connectivity, providing a cleaner and sustainable environment for all.
Salvador Anglada, group chief business officer of Etisalat said: This will transform the JLT community to become the first 5G-powered smart district in the region, making it a more seamless, efficient and safe experience for its members, residents and visitors.”
The launch of the 5G network comes months after UAE was named as the country with the fastest home internet. UAE’s internet packages are priced higher than most other countries. An average internet cost in UAE is AED 577 – the 13th highest in the world.
What Is 5G?
5G is defined as the fifth generation of mobile internet connectivity. The network promises 20-times faster download, upload, greater coverage and more stable connections. The network will also increase speed and connectivity on smart phones-which means you can be faster in checking in or uploading selfies!
What Else?
Meanwhile, did you know the UAE now has a 5G mobile device? In June this year, Etisalat launched the country’s first 5G network service letting customers enjoy uninterrupted internet. The ZTE Axon 10 Pro offers speed of up to 1Gbps, 20 times faster than 4G.
And that also means you can stream 4K resolution videos, without any lag. The ‘superfast’ phone can be purchased from Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall or The Dubai Mall.
