Dubai’s Waterfront market will be open to customers from today. Authorities have permitted all fish, meat, dry goods, fruit and vegetable markets, to function normally. However, as part of the safety precautions, a host of measures are put in place. A 24 hour team is appointed to disinfect and sanitize all common areas in addition to their standard hygiene cleaning practices.
All markets will remain open from 6 am – 8 pm. Cleaning and sanitization will take p[lace throughout the day. In addition, there will also be a deep cleaning process conducted post 8 pm everyday. Furthermore, thermal cameras installed at the entrance will monitor temperature of all staff and customers entering the place. Sanitizers are fitted in various corners of the market to ensure customers have their hands clean at all times.
All customers must wear gloves and a face mask as well as maintain physical distance. Only one person per family will be allowed to enter the market, and children are strictly prohibited.
Mohammad Al Madani, Waterfront Market Manager said: ” In light of Covid-19 we have taken additional precautionary measures across the entire property to further ensure the health and safety of all our customers, staff and the wider community. We encourage our community to practice physical distancing and stay safe during these unprecedented times.”
What Else?
Meanwhile, in a tweet this morning, Dubai Economy announced that all commercial sectors will remain closed until the end of the National Disinfection Program on 18 April. The exempted sectors however, will operate as usual. The decision comes in line with the preventive measures to limit the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19).

Supply Chain sectors expected from the restriction will function normally under the following conditions:
-Shall not receive customer
-Precautions will be taken with regard to sanitization and social distancing
which is exempted from obtaining the move permits. However, they shall operate with the following conditions:
