In a historic step for Uttar Pradesh’s ecotourism industry, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has started the process of making Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) a top ecotourism destination. The CM instructed forest and tourism officials to collaborate and create a comprehensive DTR development plan within the next 15 days. The objective is to reserve one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in India and set an example of biodiversity.
Dudhwa Tiger Reserve’s Exciting Eco-Tourism Makeover
The CM has given a clear and urgent directive for the Forest and Tourism departments to team up and submit a detailed plan within 15 days. Their mission is to make Dudhwa a must-visit eco-tourism destination that’s sustainable, well-connected, and deeply integrated with the local communities. According to the Hindustan Times reports, he stressed boosting tourism by improving connectivity, developing hotels, and even training locals as tourist guides to offer visitors authentic experiences.
But it’s not just about attracting tourists. During his visit, CM Yogi also focused heavily on conservation. He directed SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal), police, and forest officers to patrol together and prevent illegal logging and safeguard wildlife. He suggests installing solar fencing around villages and providing training to the locals who live close to the forests in order to address conflicts between people and wildlife, Hindustan Times reported. These steps will ensure that both people and wildlife can coexist.

A Cleaner, Greener Dudhwa
Dudhwa is also getting a water makeover as efforts to rejuvenate the Suheli River as underway, starting with cleaning a 5-kilometre stretch. Plus, cleaning and drainage work will be taken up under MGNREGA, involving the local irrigation department to keep everything flowing smoothly, as per the Hindustan Times reports.
The CM’s visit wasn’t all about meetings and orders; he made time for some beautiful moments too! He not only met with foreign visitors and personally asked them about their experiences, but also named a baby elephant “Bhavani” at the Salukapur Elephant Camp.
Big changes are coming to Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. It’s set to become not just a sanctuary for tigers, elephants, and exotic birds, but a shining example of how conservation, tourism, and community can grow together.
