This Durga Puja Pandal Is Evoking Nostalgia With Its Stunning Decor

Remember the iron chairs from our childhood days? These are the iconic biyebari furniture. Back in the day, every wedding in West Bengal had lines of these chairs decked up at the wedding venue. Bosepukur Sitala Mandir club took this beautiful moment from our childhood days and used it to construct this year’s Durga Puja pandal. From the magnificent exteriors to the interior decor, iron chairs have been used at all places and this South Kolkata puja pandal is looking like an absolute piece of art.

One of the most beautiful sights to witness here is the perfect placement and installation of lights in between the stacks of iron chairs. A total of 12,000 of these chairs have been used to construct this pandal in South Kolkata. More than just simply using the chairs, they have repurposed the ones that looked like of no use. It shows a great exact of reusing objects.

The theme of the 2023 Durga Puja is ‘Ayojon’ (preparation). There is a beautiful thought hidden behind the theme. In a conversation with India Today, the artist of this phenomenal Durga Puja pandal shared the meaning behind the theme and the thought and how the team has represented it in the pandal. Anirban Das shared how chairs are a must whenever we plan or organise any occasion.
Iron chairs have been used in huge numbers all around us in the past. While growing up, these chairs were a part of all our events and celebrations. But we can hardly see this nowadays. Iron chairs in someone’s house signified that some event was coming up. However, these are now just something to remember from our childhood days.
