Indians living abroad deal with the disheartening experience of missing out on festivals and family time every year. Video calls are the only solution to compensate for not being able to experience these joys. Though the Hindu community based in NYC could not be at their ghar enjoying Durga Puja festivities, they surely felt the happiness at their home away from home abroad.
Magnificent idols of Maa Durga and her children have been placed at Times Square this Durga Puja. Worshipping Maa Durga on this auspicious occasion created history in this prime location in NYC. On October 5 and 6, devotees gathered at the venue and offered prayers to Maa.
Not just for Bengalis living in NYC, monumental celebrations also turned out the most spectacular cultural experience for non-Bengalis and foreigners. The organisation of Durga Puja in Times Square, worshipping Maa following rituals and assembling people from everywhere to celebrate the joy and merriment of festivities scripted history. It is a significant proud moment for Indians to see the world honouring our traditions.
Bolo Bolo Dugga Elo!
Times Square hosting magnificent celebrations for Maa Durga is one of the biggest highlights of Durga Puja 2024. Devotees joined the grand festivities to dance, sing Maa Durga’s songs, and enjoy the occasion to the fullest. Donning sarees, kurtas, punjabis, and traditional outfits, the sights looked divine. Pictures and videos of the crowd enjoying the puja bring a huge smile to our faces.
