EaseMyTrip Co-Founder Pledges ₹1 Crore To Fix Bengaluru’s Traffic Issue After Being Stuck In 2-Hr Jam

The memes on Bengaluru’s incessant, tiresome traffic situation are endless. And so are the complaints that have become a talking point, almost a conversation starter for residents in the city. But EaseMyTrip co-founder, Prashant Pitti, wants to do things differently. Keeping the memes and complaints at bay, Pitti wants to look for a solution to Bengaluru’s traffic woes. For this, he has pledged ₹1 crore.

EaseMyTrip Co-Founder Wants To Fix Bengaluru’s Traffic Woes

Taking to his X(formerly Twitter) handle, EaseMyTrip co-founder, Prashant Pitti has a solution-focused outlook towards Bengaluru traffic. Having spent over two hours in traffic on the Outer Ring Road to travel just a mere 11 km, Pitti had reached his wits’ end. He admitted to spending 100 minutes stuck in traffic, wondering why there were no traffic cops or a traffic light at the chokehold.

That’s when he decided to fix it. Prashant Pitti informed in his post that Google Maps has shared a ‘Road Management Insight’. The city-level data in BigQuery format utilises Google Data and Satellite Imagery. Residents of a city can list down choke-points and exact timings for jams in a month. The traffic department in turn can specifically work on areas. They can deploy personnel, install traffic lights or manage the area better.

And He Wants Bengalureans To Be Part Of The Solution Too!

The EaseMyTrip co-founder decided to do his bit to turn around Bengaluru’s traffic woes. For this, he announced to spend ₹1 crore by funding 1-2 ML/AI engineers. Moreover, he will provide a budget for Google Maps API calls, GPUs and Satellite Imagery. What he seeks is the cooperation of BBMP to name teams that would act on the insights generated by his team.

And this is just the beginning. Prashant Pitti needs our support to find a solution as well. Here’s what we can do to support him and do out bit as Bengalureans to reduce traffic jams in the city.

  • Tag people in Bangalore Traffic Office, Traffic Commissioner’s office and BBMP.
  • Circulate Prashant Pitti’s post.
  • ML/AI engineers must comment ‘IN’ to work part-time with him to end the menace.
  • Every commuter must comment and share his post.

For Pitti, these are just simple steps to make a difference in the city instead of bleeding time in traffic. He believes Bengaluru traffic can be fixed with AI. And of course, it would need cooperation, initiative and patience as well.
