Eastern Railway Announces 50 Special & 400 Additional Trains For Diwali & Chhath Puja; Details Inside

Good news, travellers! In a bid to accommodate the increased passenger demand during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Eastern Railway has decided to roll out 50 special trains and also provide 400 additional services this festive season. These trains will be operational from October 30 to November 6 and here’s all you need to know about them.

Special Trains To Meet Diwali, Chhath Puja Demand

To meet the passenger demand this festive season, Eastern Railway (ER) has decided to run 50 special trains. According to Mint, ER announced ‘Trains on Demand’ to accommodate the Diwali and Chhath Puja passenger rush. They will run these special trains from October 30 to November 6. That’s not all, ER will also provide 400 additional train services during this period.

Eastern Railway hopes that with these special trains, everyone will be able to reach home on time to celebrate the festivals with their families. That’s why, they have decided to increase the number of these special trains from 33 last year to 50 this season. They have also added additional coaches to already existing trains to accommodate more passengers.

Eastern Railway’s Special Emphasis On Delhi-Bound Trains

As per the Mint report, Eastern Railway has placed special emphasis on Delhi-bound trains while deciding the special trains for the festive season. Reportedly, this is because this region is popular among travellers during Diwali and Chhath Puja. Special trains will run from Asansol to Patna on November 3,4, and 5. More trains will run on routes including Malda to Udhna, Howrah to Khatipura, and Asansol to Khatipura.

Besides Eastern Railway, Western Railway and South Central Railway have also added hundreds of special trains to ferry passengers home during the Diwali season. We have to appreciate the railways for running so many special trains to meet up with the festive demand!
