easyJet Flight Cancellations: Reason, Refund, Airports Impacted And More. All You Need To Know

easyJet has announced the biggest travel disruption of the summer so far. After so many months of industrial action and strikes in Europe, another story came out. About 1,700 easyJet flights have been cancelled for the upcoming months. This has impacted more than 1,80,000 passengers. But what can be done about this? Why are the cancellations happening? Here’s everything you need to know about the cancellations, refunds, and more.

easyJet Cancels 1,700 Flights

easyJet has given out the reason behind the mass cancellations. They have blamed the reduced airspace over Europe and the current strike by air traffic controllers for this. The budget airline called it a preventive measure so that they could reduce last-minute cancellations.

The flight cancellations announced will affect all flights in July, August, and September. The flights that will be impacted will be those flying to and from London Gatwick.

Easyjet will notify you about the cancellations of your flights well in advance. As the flight cancellations have been announced early and not just before departure. In cases where you are not notified by the airline, you can check it on their official website as well.

Shop Around For Other Flights

You can most certainly actually ask for a refund for the easyJet cancellation. If you look at the advice on delays and cancellations given by the airline, it says that if the flight is cancelled, you get tickets for the very next flight available for free. You can also get a full-value voucher according to your booking, or you can request a refund.

Many passengers actually complained that the airline was booking tickets for them on a different day than the one they decided to fly. This actually goes against what the traveller actually planned. But as a passenger, you have certain rights that you should use.

According to the right, you can actually book tickets on different airlines for the same date, and easyJet has to give you full reimbursement for the same. So do not settle for what they ask you to, and look out for other carriers.
