How would you like to eat a berry pulao from a secret recipe at Britannia & Co. that lives on long after its owner has passed away?

What Is It?

Britannia & Co. is a restaurant that was started by Rashid Kohinoor in 1923. From feeding the British officers all those years back to feeding the millennials of today – this beautiful and iconic restaurateur has come a long way.  Britannia & Co. is now run by Rashid’s grand-daughters, although his son Boman Kohinoor still comes to the restaurant regularly.

Not much has changed in the last 94 years. The Bentwood furniture imported from Poland still remains the same as does the ambiance of cheer. The berry pulao recipe came from Boman’s wife – Bachan Kohinoor – and continues to this day even after her passing away. The barberries used in the pulao are imported from Iran. Another top-secret recipe is their caramel custard which is absolutely delicious.

It’s not just the Mumbaikars who relish the iconic food at Britannia & Co. People come from all over the world. Boman talks of patrons from Singapore, Malaysia and even the UK.
