More About The Islamic Calendar
Coming back to the festival, it is a well-known fact that the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle. So basically, the festivals are decided on the basis of moon sighting, which is done by a committee. As it happens, the moon sighting committee is scheduled to convene on May 27. So if the moon is sighted on that day, then Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 28. However, if this is not visible, then Dhul Hijjah will begin on May 29.
