UAE residents are waiting eagerly for the long Eid al-Adha weekend. As many have already booked their tickets to travel to international destinations or to other emirates, UAE airports are expecting a massive holiday rush. In fact, Abu Dhabi International Airport is hardly any different, as they are said to welcome over 9,00,000 passengers during the holiday season.

With the holiday season nearly here, airports across the UAE are getting ready to welcome a massive rush of excited travellers during the much-awaited Eid al-Adha holidays. According to a report by the Arabian Business, it was mentioned that the Abu Dhabi International Airport is gearing up to welcome a massive crowd of passengers during this holiday season. Yes, it was reported that this airport group has issued that they expect an increase in traffic at the airport both before and during Eid al-Adha. Moreover, between June 23 and July 7, there is expected to be a massive rush of travellers wherein more than 9,00,000 passengers may pass through the airport. As it happens, over 5,000 flights spanning 109 destinations in 59 countries are expected to ply from the airport.

Etihad Airways Issues Guidelines For Travellers Ahead Of Holiday Rush

It should be noted that with there being an increase in traffic at the international airport, Etihad Airways has issued a set of guidelines to help its customers navigate seamlessly through the massive rush. This comes after it is expected that the airline is ready to expect over 4 million passengers from June 20 to September 30. Here are some travel tips by the airline to ensure a smooth transit.

  • Boarding for all flights will close 20 minutes before departure.
  • Passengers should check their flight timing and departure terminal, as it is expected that the airways might move the check-in counters for selected flights, as there is an increase in passengers.
  • If you are travelling abroad, you might want to check in online and arrive early at the airport, in order to avoid the rush.
  • In case your travel plans include flying to the US, you might want to make use of the United States Customs & Border Protection facility available at T3. You can clear US immigration before leaving the country here.
  • Passengers can use check-in facilities at Mina Zayed or the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, for AED35 per adult and AED25 per child.
