If you have flown with Emirates before, then chances are you have already had a taste of velvety chocolates served onboard in one form or the other. And on the occasion of World Chocolate Day, which falls on July 7, the airline has revealed that it has served 45 million pieces of luxury chocolates to the customers on board the flights. Yes, this includes customers in all classes and they have also served an array of delectable chocolatey desserts. Here’s all you need to know about this.

Emirate 45 Million Chocolates To Customers

Emirates served 45 million pieces of luxury chocolates to the customers. For those who aren’t aware, Emirates serves artisan chocolates as a part of their signature meal service. And this is for all the classes, to all the 140 destinations around the world. And over the last year, the Economy Class customers ended up consuming 36.3 million chocolates and those in the Premium Economy Classes (newly launched) enjoyed 3,22,000 chocolates. People in Business Class enjoyed 8.2 million chocolates and those in First Class who have access to unlimited chocolates and are even allowed to take away some other favourite flavours enjoyed 1,22,000 large gourmet chocolate boxes.

They Have Collaborated With Valrhona

At the moment, Emirates has collaborated with Valrhona, which is the French chocolatier. In fact, Emirates has collaborated with chocolatiers from around the world. Yes, and they rotate these chocolates onboard every three months! For those who aren’t aware, Valrhona is an elite chocolate brand that was established in France in the year 1922. Established by pastry maker and confectioner, Albéric Guironnet, this place has a hundred years of passionate and meticulous craftsmanship for making delightful chocolates. In fact, it’s known for its dedication to excellence and innovation in the art of chocolate making.

Coming to the rotation of chocolates from around the world, these include Bateel, Coco Jalila & Forrey & Galland from the UAE, Godiva, Canonica & Neuhaus from Belgium, Butlers from Ireland, Hotel Chocolat from the UK, and Pacari from Ecuador. As such, brands for the chocolate are selected for a variety of reasons, which includes content, whether they are dark milk or white chocolate, bonbons, fruit lines or truffles and of course, if they have a creamy filling or fruit one.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that chocolate candy bars, which are served on the long routes are offered to children during festival celebrations. Customers in the First Class enjoy 85% dark chocolate from Lindt in their goody basket. As such, those in the Emirates lounge also include some homemade Emirates chocolate ice cream, Emirates MasterChef creations, and signature Costa Coffee Hot Chocolate.
