The Emirates Foundation for School Education recently announced that some non-citizen students can now apply for UAE public schools under specific conditions. However, these include GCC nationals, children of diplomats, holders of Emirati passports, holders of Comoros passports, and holders of decrees. Not to mention, the student’s parent must also be employed in the government, semi-government, or local entity. In fact, the student concerned must have held a minimum rate of 85% in Arabic, Maths, and English.

Finally, it should be mentioned that both the students and the parents must have a valid UAE Residence Visa. However, the number of non-citizens accepted in each classroom must not exceed 20% of the total student’s strength. It’s worth mentioning that the UAE offers free school education to holders of UAE passports, GCC citizens, UAE nationals, and children of holders of nationality by decrees issued by the UAE’s president or vice president. This is a boon for non-Emirati citizen students, as those permitted to attend public schools can do so on a payment of AED6000, as tuition fees if they are subject to meet the above conditions.

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that public schools use Arabic as a language for all subjects. They follow the Emirati National Curriculum, which is supervised by the Ministry of Education and English is taught as a second language for basic grammar and comprehension. So, if you have the necessary documents and want your children to be educated in a UAE Public school, this is just the brilliant development you might want to keep in mind before the new session starts.
