The Kuwait Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has recently unveiled a crucial regulatory change regarding work permits. It is specifically aimed at banning fraudulent practices in regard to expatriate work permits. Here’s the significance of this new regulation and its impact on expat workers and their employers.

Preventing Unauthorized Changes In Expat Work Permit

Under this freshly enacted rule, PAM has put forth strict measures to prevent any unauthorized changes to the data on expat work permits. It includes crucial information such as name, date of birth, and nationality. To effect any changes in these particulars, employers are now mandated to follow a precise procedure.

For employers seeking to make any change in an expatriate worker’s name, date of birth, or nationality, a two-step process is a must. Initially, they are required to initiate the visa cancellation service within a strict two-week timeframe. It has to be done from the issuance of the work permit. This application must be submitted via the Sahel service. After successful visa cancellation, the employer is then obligated to visit the Ministry of Interior to officially modify the worker’s data and apply for a fresh permit. Basically, expat employees working in Kuwait will no longer be able to change any personal details once the permit has been issued.

Its primary objective is to prevent any attempts at manipulation or fraud activities that may have occurred previously. Notably, this measure serves as a strong block against efforts to bring in workers of nationalities with suspended work permits.

In tandem with this regulatory change, PAM has introduced an innovative electronic service. It will further simplify the cancellation of entry visas for expatriate workers. Employers can now access PAM’s electronic forms portal, select the expat worker icon, and opt for the ‘Cancel Work Visa’ feature. This process involves registering the application data and submitting a data validation declaration.

So, the Kuwait Public Authority for Manpower’s latest regulatory change will prevent more fraud cases regarding permits. By instituting a precise procedure and introducing electronic services, Kuwait will maintain transparency and security in labour practices.
