According to a report by ESPN, Newsonair, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) official website, Qatar was playing against the UAE national team, and it finished with a strong performance in sight. The final score came down to 2-1, a close victory. It’s the first time in history that the Qatar team has made it through the tournament’s qualifying stage.
If you look into the past, Qatar lost all three group-stage matches when it hosted the World Cup in 2022. And this year, they have proved that victory was always theirs to achieve.
Saudi Arabia Has Made A Steady Climb With This Victory
As we know that Saudi Arabia will be hosting the FIFA World Cup 2034, this victory came along to strengthen their position in the football world. Unlike Qatar, Saudi Arabia played out a 0-0 draw with the Iraqi team, leading to the final qualification. This win marks the Kingdom’s 7th World Cup appearance.

Home Ground Advantage For Both Countries
As per the AFC schedule, both Saudi Arabia and Jeddah played matches on their home grounds, which definitely acted as an advantage. The official website of the AFC mentioned that the Saudi team played the match at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, against Iraq. Meanwhile, Qatar played the qualifiers at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Doha, as mentioned in the report by The Peninsula Qatar.
