World-Famous Opera, Carmen Is Coming To Saudi Arabia For The First Time This September!

Carmen To Make Its Debut In Saudi Arabia

Carmen is a masterpiece by French composer Georges Bizet. As it happens, it will be taking to the stage at the King Fahad Cultural Centre in Riyadh. The show will be taking place from September 4th to 6th and will be brought to life by the China National Opera House. Coming to Saudi Arabia for the first time, this masterpiece first premiered in France back in 1875.

So, it’s not wrong to say that this is truly an iconic staging. A milestone intercultural exchange, this show is a part of the official 2025 Saudi-China cultural year. And it’s special because it is also coinciding with the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Additionally, it happens to be the 150th anniversary of the debut of Carmen.

As mentioned previously, Carmen was first performed in 1875. Regarded as one of the greatest masterpieces, it follows the story of a girl, Carmen. With the story set in Spain, sparks fly when she meets Don José! However, Carmen is not ready to give up her freedom. And so, although it seems that the passion is set for tragedy at first, the story gives one an adrenaline-filled ride through different human emotions.
